Reaching TIFR


TIFR is around 26 km from the Hyderabad airport, around 25 km from the Mahatma Gandhi bus station, and around 30 km from the main train stations, such as Secunderabad, Nampally, and Kacheguda.

Airport: Prepaid taxis are available from the airport for prices varying between Rs. 700-1000 depending on the car company and time. You can take the AC bus service, Pushpak, to Gachibowli for Rs. 200. From Gachibowli, you can reach TIFR by taking either one of the taxis (ask for Gopanapalli) for around Rs. 100 or, if you are adventurous, a shared three-wheeler for may be Rs. 20.

Train Stations: The long-distance train stations in Hyderabad are Kacheguda, Nampally (Hyderabad Deccan railway station), and Secunderabad junction. It is better to take a taxi from here to TIFR-H. You can get off in Lingampalli station if the train stops there. From here, you can take a shared auto to Gopanapalli Thanda for Rs. 20, about 6 km. and TIFR-H is 100 metres of walk from the Thanda.

Bus Station: From the Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station, MGBS, taxis are available. You can take an auto or public transport to Gopanapalli via Mehdipatnam.

Note that Hyderabad has a metro service and MMTS, a regular internal train service. The metro can be taken from many areas in Hyderabad, inlcuding the bus station, and the closest stop to TIFR-H is the Hitec City which is at a distance of around 12 km.
