Research Overview

Cellular metabolism and energetics are key determinants of almost all biological processes. Notably, the molecular factors involved in these processes are implicated in various diseases. Our lab is focused on uncovering the molecular mechanisms that couple metabolism to cellular and organismal physiology and elucidating processes involved in lifestyle diseases, aging, and cancer. Specifically, we are investigating whether dietary and/or therapeutic interventions reverse or slow down the aging process. We also aim to identify the tissues that contribute to the aging-induced decline in our functions. Additionally, our lab is exploring whether altered metabolic architecture influences the development of disease states, and how metabolism may control gene expression via epigenetic mechanisms.
