Research Overview
Our lab is interested in understanding the molecular mechanism of the active transport of metabolites across membranes. Particularly, we focus on the structural features of the mitochondrial pyruvate carrier assembly, which is responsible for the transport of pyruvate, a key metabolic intermediate. We investigate active transport across biological membranes using existing and newly-developed solid-state NMR spectroscopy techniques along with other biophysical tools. Our lab is also engaged in developing novel multiple-acquisition NMR techniques that are time-saving and more sensitive compared to conventional NMR approaches.
