Research Overview

Our research is focused on the development and application of coherent light sources in wavelength regions that are inaccessible to conventional lasers. Using the readily available pump lasers that are often confined to a fixed wavelength and nonlinear frequency conversion in novel materials, we generate broadly tunable radiation from ultraviolet to mid-infrared, operating in various timescales ranging from continuous wave to ultrafast femtosecond. These spectral and temporally versatile sources serve as unique platforms for studying various fundamental nonlinear optical phenomena. We are particularly interested in developing high power, high repetition rate, femtosecond mid-infrared optical frequency combs for a variety of applications.
