Karthik V. Raman’s lab assembles a unique Scanning Tunneling Microscope set-up

Researchers at Karthik V. Raman’s lab have assembled a powerful cryo-Scanning Tunneling Microscope (STM), without the need of expensive liquid Helium. Additionally, this set-up is coupled with two components: a strong superconducting magnet, and a transfer system that keeps the sample in ultra high vacuum conditions. The lab has successfully tuned this set-up to enable experiments in low-noise conditions.
