The Vaidya Lab

Energy is the basis of existence and therefore life. All lifeforms (on earth) ultimately rely on the sun for energy, but they have molecular systems to convert one form of energy to another. They also have elaborate systems to sense and respond to changes in energy levels. Our lab tries to understand the molecular underpinnings of such systems using structural biology, biochemistry and biophysics. Currently, we are focusing on understanding the molecular basis of

1. Eukaryotic biological clock and its response to the daily day/night cycle,
2. Mitochondrial architecture and its response to the energetics of the cell.
